⭐️ Announcing a new technique to combat the latest false equivalency rhetoric. Please do try this at home. And at work. And in the supermarket line. 1/
Context
So, in the past few weeks I’ve encountered a few different well-educated Trump supporters who brush off the criminal mess he is in by stating “all politicians are corrupt.“

2/
This has been nearly verbatim from them. It is their best defense. Here was my response I tried out with the last one, and it seem to work.

Response
First I said, it’s a matter of degree. This made him scoff a little. But I said hold on stay with me.

Next, I said here’s an analogy. Imagine that you needed surgery and had a choice.

4/
There was one expert surgeon who had over the course of their career conducted 5,000 surgeries of the type you need.

Of those surgeries assume all patients recovered well but unfortunately two died on the operating table.

5/
I continued, the other option is someone who claims to have a special cure, and has treated five people for the condition you have. Of them, two died immediately from this procedure.

6/
I then said, which one would you choose. He laughed immediately.

7/
But if he hadn’t gotten it right away, I would’ve said, imagine that the quack in addition, had settled racketeering charges, had several bankruptcies and had a history of cheating customers and suppliers.

8/
Imagine that people supporting the quack said, all doctors kill patients. This one is the same as that fancy surgeon people go to. They both have killed two people.

My friends, this is what we are dealing with now.
