Something is happening in Syria. They are restricting ppl from travelling outside of the country. I have been seeing reports about this since last week but family and friends have confirmed: All men between 17-42 can't leave without a new Military Conscription Office approval. 1
My friend's aunt retired frm a Municipality job 25 years ago and has been living in the UAE since then. She visited Syria for the first time in 8yrs last month, on her way out back to UAE, immigration officer asked her for an official end of service letter from the Municipality.
Another friend paid about $3,000 to remove and clear his name from the State Security's wanted list (merely because he used to post anti Assad stuff on FB years ago), on his way out of Syria they asked him for a "Clear Record" certificate from the MOI...
As he went to follow up with the MOI, they told him he has to check with State Security who in turn sent him to State Security and into 3 other security branches. Long story short: all these people are being given impossible tasks to do to get out of the country....
ASsad's message is clear: Don't come back to Syria.
From my side: I have not been to Syria since 2011 and I have come to terms with the fact that I probably won't in the near future.

I will never ever go back home as long as the butcher of Damascus is still holding my country and its entire population hostage.
Twitter & Facebook has 100s (if not more) of similar stories about Assad making the return of Syrians to Syria impossible. If you or someone you know have a similar story, reply to this thread.

More on this

Assad media is now confirming the military conscription part of the news: no male between the age of 17-42 can leave the country without the approval of the Military Conscription Office

By the way, Al Watan Newspaper, that confirmed the news is owned by Assad's cousin and Syria's Chief Thief Rami Makhlouf..so when they cite sources in the gov, believe them.

Joke being shared on Syrian WhatsApp: message from Syrian mobile network operator saying: Dear Customer, to update your mobile internet settings, please check back with you Military Conscription Office".
An unprecedented criticism of the newly enacted law banning males from travelling without Mil approval on Assad regime TV. This was impossible pre2011...Even Assadists are enjoying more freedoms off of the dead bodies of ppl they encouraged killing.

Things u NEVER heard b4 2011 on Syrian Satellite channel owned by an Assad cousin Rami Makhouf:

- "Why do u treat all Syrians like sheep?"

- "Why do u treat almost all males in Syria as wanted criminals?"

- "Who is this backwarded man in the gov that came up with this law?"
The presenter goes on to say:

- "Just go meet people and read what they say online, people have lost hope, confidence and trust in this government"

- "since the 'war' started, we noticed that a part of it was that a lot of ppl had grievances with this gov, this doesn't help"
