For someone who repeatedly promised Maine women you would protect our rights - and earning the @PPact endorsement - how do you explain the 76% of women who OPPOSE his nomination? 2/9
And why are you letting the White House papers - of his “most formative years” (his words, not mine) not be released? Where’s the anger? 3/9
It should not take an act of civil disobedience by a US Senator (looking at you @CoryBooker) to release a trove of background information that was marked “Committee confidential” as though “executive privilege” had been requested - which it hadn’t. 4/9
We have had our disagreements, but the reason I speak up so strongly is because at my core, I believe you’re in this for the right reasons. But it’s very hard to believe that you haven’t lost your way. 5/9
Come talk to Maine women who are your longtime base. We don’t want the balance of power to shift so far to the right that we lose our rights for a generation. 6/9
Moreover, this is all happening under a very deep cloud of suspicion, one that keeps getting darker with each new WH departure, each new book, and OpEd from the inside. It all points to the Madness of King George - which was a tragedy, for the record. 7/9
I’ve looked you in the eye. I know how deeply you care about Maine and love our people. And we both deeply love our country. 8/9
You have the power to turn the tide, just like Margaret Chase Smith did with a #SCOTUS nominee that everyone secretly knew was bad for the country. Step into her shoes and LEAD. 9/9
