The sinister thing about severe depression and anxiety is how logical and reasonable it can seem. You can (internally) keep saying the most horrid things about yourself and they make perfect sense. It can lead you right off the precipice. 1/ #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
I managed to survive years of the most awful whispers in my ear (probably why I don't particular care about trolls), before I couldn't take any more and came close to ending my own life. Thankfully, I had others who could spot the signs. 2/ #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
Talking to someone, finding a medication level that worked & undergoing some intensive talking therapy wasn't easy - in fact, it was brutal, but I came out the other side wanting to live, and live well. The pain subsided. I could lift my head again. 3/ #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

It’s interesting to do a mental exercise in which I view my being a transsexual from starkly different perspectives:

1) It’s a choice I made, and I became trans when I made it.

2) My being trans is something innate and not a choice, though acting on that and transitioning is.
I think that by exploring these ideas we might gain a better sense for the difference between TRA vs Feminist logic, and that might help foster understanding of a better way to communicate between the two groups.
So let’s start by exploring #1: I became trans the moment I chose to transition.

This is an objective, materialistic perspective. While the motivations behind why a person might choose to do this are complex and varied, it’s easy to understand that they have, in fact, chosen.

Things that surprised/amazed me about Japan, an ongoing thread.

It’s my first time here. Please comment away and/or point out my cultural insensitivities!
1. A very friendly immigration officer and I laughed together, and when I said “I don’t really know where I’ll be staying,” he actually applauded it.
2. Very nice and clean train from the airport, with power sockets, and vending machines onboard.

Tons of solar panels passed by on the way.
