A study from the American Immigration Council said that over 90% of asylum-seeking families show up for court.

@BuzzFeedNews ran with it, writing "Here's a Statistic You Won't Hear from Trump".

One problem: Their math fails to stand up to any scrutiny.

The claim that 90% of asylum-seeking families show up to court is ignoring much of the data.

53% of families who pass a credible fear approval don't even bother to file an asylum claim after.

The authors at @immcouncil failed to include any of these cases in their calculations.
Further, 62% of the cases they analyzed were still pending when @immcouncil published the report.

How can you publish a report about a pool of statistical data when only 38% of it is complete?
