Happy 22nd bday to Grand Staircase-Escalante. I am proud to cosponsor the #ANTIQUITIESActof2018 and protect our public lands from the Trump admin. From Silvio O. Conte Refuge to the Green Mountain National Forest, I am proud of #Vermont's commitment to our natural beauty.
Grand Staircase-Escalante national monument turns 22 today. Help me protect this treasure and so many others from @Interior’s mining and drilling plans. In Vermont, we protect and enjoy our public lands and plan to keep them safe for generations to come.

#FALSE: Pres. Trump’s repeated claim that we have a crisis-level surge of illegal immigration at our southern border.
#FACT: At the end of 2017, arrests of people attempting to illegally enter the U.S. dropped to the lowest level since 1971. Between 2000 & 2018, border apprehensions fell sharply from roughly 1.6 m. in FY 2000 to approximately 400,000 in FY 2018 – that's a 75% drop.

Context: @mike_giglio had an excellent piece last month on how the #Trump admin may be executing a strategy of "maximum pressure" against #Iran, partly inspired by the book "Victory" & its claim that Reagan used this strategy to defeat the Soviet Union. 2/ buzzfeednews.com/article/mikegi…
There's only one problem: "Victory" is not good history, to put it politely. The most basic critique is that the author didn't have access to US & Soviet archives when the book was published in 1994. You can find much harsher academic critiques online. 3/ amazon.com/dp/0871136333/…
