The story that DIT are considering using powers in the Trade Bill to change food standards are most concerning in terms of restoring analysis, trust, and effective political debate in the UK - uk.businessinsider.com/liam-fox-trade…
We know the US has different food standards to the EU, and they would almost certainly want this reflected in any bilateral trade deal. TPP already reflects these. This is about what is safe, but also consumer preference, food chains, animal welfare etc
Obvious solution: Proper evidence based policy making considering all the options. Then agree the path forward.

How to destroy trust: Surface statement that you won't change food standards, ignore this when talking US trade, suggestion of using powers not intended for this
Modern trade agreements are complex, touch on rules and regulations in huge areas of the economy, and are often controversial. Parliament and the broader public has to have confidence in Government otherwise they are difficult to pursue. /end
