There is a huge misconception that one needs a networking or programming background to go into cyber security.

THIS IS FALSE!
Many industry experts and leaders today were once graduates of political science, psychology, law, and other non-IT courses.

If you’re trying to make this decision, you need to ask yourself - ‘why do I want to go into cyber security’?

#MondayMotivation
Just like in any other endeavor in life, WHY is a question that must be answered.

You also need to figure out where your interest lies in the industry as cyber security is quite broad.

Consider your soft skills - do you pay attention to detail, are you patient, thorough?

Are you capable of solving problems incrementally, and escalating them where necessary? 🤔

Many HR managers look out for soft skills because technical skills can be learnt easily.. easier than soft skills at least.

Many cyber security roles involve finding clues or evidence in logs. If you aren’t careful and thorough, you will perform poorly and disappoint clients.
This does not imply that technical skills are irrelevant. However, you don’t need a computer science degree to become a cyber security professional.

Research — Figure out where exactly your interest lies.
Find out what you need to learn, and work hard towards it.
There are free resources online, certifications, and events you can attend to learn more, and even network with those already in the field.

Look in the mirror today and tell yourself, “I CAN AND I WILL”.

Welcome to Cyber Security!
