Rant incoming:
In the opinion of someone who is not a professional, but has studied both CJ & PSY for the past few years, there is no reason why Kavanaugh’s testimony is more trust worthy than Ford’s. In fact it could be considered the opposite as Kavanaugh had lied about...
underage drinking. He claimed that, under Maryland law, the legal drinking age at the time of the allegations was 18 and that he was 18 at the time. However, if we go by Ford’s claim that the incident happened in 1982 (not 81 like I’ve been seeing) Kavanaugh would have been 17...
making him an unreliable witness who, in a criminal hearing (which this isn’t, btw) would NEVER be put on the stand because it would ruin the case of whichever side attempted to use his testimony regarding ANYTHING. Reasonable doubt would be cast on anything that he would say.
This is only partially why I’m inclined to believe ford over him. While watching the hearing, I saw nothing but raw, traumatic emotion from Ford. I don’t care what anyone has to say, there is absolutely ZERO way anyone could act out trauma that convincingly. During the entire...
hearing, Ford looked uncomfortable and, as she stared at the beginning of her testimony, as if she was terrified. Someone who was faking this for some agenda would not act like this. They would act like Kavanaugh. They would become angry and belligerent in an attempt to...
intimidate those around them into agreeing and believing them. There’s a reason why intense eye contact that makes others uncomfortable is a sign in investigations that an individual is lying.
Another thing if note is that Ford was correct in her interpretation of why some of the individuals she stated were there could not recall the party. When traumatic event happens, your brain goes into a state of hyper vigilance. Every sound, every smell, every detail becomes..
engrained into your mind and you relive that moment every time you smell that smell or hear that sound, or any detail triggers that memory. However, over time and with the help of therapy your mind can slowly begin to rebuild itself so that details that once were vivid and...
caused you to relive the experience can be diminished. Since Ford did revive therapy and the event occurred decades ago, it’s not surprising that some things are no longer as vivid as they once were, however some remain e.g. Kavanaugh’s laugh.
So it makes sense that she would remember it and others wouldn’t, especially since, if Ford is to be believed and I do believe she is, that the party they attended was only one of many they threw, and by far the least eventful. Not to mention the alcohol consumption.
There’s no reason why these 3rd party individuals would remember much about that night; nothing eventful happened to them. But something eventful did happen to Ford.
