There is something really odd going on with Kavanaugh's calendar. Before I make any accusations, does anyone know of PDF scanning software which automatically vectorizes handwriting, removes that handwriting from the image scan, and then overlays the vectors?
Because the above image is the actual jpg embedded of the July calendar entry from the pdf file I see online. The handwriting is an overlay of vectors. You can see in this extreme closeup what I mean.
So either, some pretty advanced image post-processing was used (in which case I could see overlaying vectors, but why erase them from the underlying image?)
or
The calendar was wiped clean and then edited electronically.
An even closer view. All the letters are clean and non-pixelated because they are vector drawings. Except for "fo" and "J" which are part of an image scan.
We have one legitimate possibility. However the embedded PDF producer and document creator are both "RICOH MP C4503". I'd expect post processing software to announce itself in the comments.
So @ABBYY_USA @ABBYY_Software could we please have your professional opinion on what's happening here?
Apparently I'm not the first to notice this and there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Someone has found a different version with no included vectors. Is it more original or less original? Still examining it. However it does NOT include any comments claiming it was created on a RICOH scanner.
The answer is this second version is a later version, not earlier. It is the version with vectors that has been re-compressed into single images. It shows the same square edge artifacts that @LuluLemew noticed in the other version.
