I've never seen as partisan a statement by a federal judicial nominee as I saw from Judge Kavanaugh last week. He claimed that he bore “no ill will” towards Dr. Ford, then turned right around and called her allegations, “a calculated and orchestrated political hit.”
He cited “apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election” and “revenge on behalf of the Clintons.” These partisan attacks were in no way responsive to Dr. Ford’s testimony. It was like he was appealing directly to President Trump.
It is hard to imagine how a nominee who has displayed such raw partisanship could then claim to serve as a neutral umpire on the Supreme Court.
