So... little thread about spoilers, accuracy, my content and the video I made a week ago about the shattered throne.

Long story short, I’ve taken it down to private. Let’s talk about why.

First of all, I think there’s an important note about spoilers that needs to be made. They suck, generally. Some of you will remember that with the launch of Forsaken I promised to make a greater effort to keep you unspoiled. That effort got a little tough with shattered throne.

You see the lore for characters in shattered throne as well as a lot of other cool stuff gets discussed to it’s true depth with the last unreleased and undiscovered lore book. Currently nobody has found it. However, before Forsaken released people datamined it all.

For the most part there’s been a dogged determination in the lore crowd not to cover that stuff generally but I found myself in a situation where my hand was forced. Combine that with the generally anxiety of YouTubes competitive scene and I decided to make the video in question.

I won’t go into that wrong decision much but in short... it was the wrong decision.

What I attempted to do next was to limit the information I was putting out as much as possible. I wanted to leave all unnecessary spoilers out of it.

Of course that’s not how information works

The video ended up basically convincing you all of half truths and I held out hope that we’d soon be able to get the last book so I could follow up and clarify. That last book to my current knowledge still hasn’t been found... so here we are...

Reality is that when I say something in my videos it’s all to often widely repeated. These small bits of incomplete knowledge got repeated as the whole story quite widely. In the end as I saw this spiralling out of control I came to realise my mistake.

So the vid is now down.

I can’t control when a reddit thread or a video gets made that’s a blatant spoiler. What I can control is my own content...

You deserve better than that. You know that I try to represent accuracy. I felt compromised and I acted irrationally. This was a stupid mistake.

The video has been taken down. I’ve done that twice this year which is concerning. That’s never happened before.

But as always... we learn from the situation.

We are all human. Mistakes are a part of us. To the writers at Bungie I’m sorry. I wasn’t worthy of your work.

I’ll be working to get another video back up ASAP.
