This article is outrageous.

1. The problem is *not* public apathy.

The problem is the horrible web of corrupt geopolitics, vested interests, and state-corporate media duplicity - the realm of the rich and powerful.

2. Carbon emissions are accelerating:

To all those praising @leobarasi for nailing it, this is simply more of the same disingenuous/fantasy, polluter-friendly green capitalist discourse that props up the status quo and precludes the logical and necessary discussion of democratic ecosocialism from public debate.
@leobarasi The idea here is that the biggest danger is us, the public - not the profit-seeking corporations that influence policy and control systems of power.

Think about that. The people are the problem.

A disturbing angle.
@leobarasi There are, sadly, no reasons to think the world is, finally, getting to grips with climate change.

@leobarasi The article criminally downplays the bleak reality - a perfect example of @guardian failing it’s readers by not properly informing them that this is a dire emergency, thus contributing to the lack of public outcry that would compel action.

@leobarasi @guardian Cutting emissions further to stop dangerous warming will depend on emergency action to halt all new fossil fuel infrastructure and international cooperation to stop oil/gas production.

Being a non-flying vegan is ideal, but won’t mean anything at all without systemic change.
@leobarasi @guardian Talking about tax? What about the subsidies problem?!

scientificamerican.com/article/fossil…
@leobarasi @guardian “Burning fossil fuels isn’t a victimless crime, but it’s not instinctively obvious who the culprits and the victims are.”

Could the culprits be our governments, subsidising fossil fuel corporations knowing full well they are locking in a #climategenocide of billions of people?
@leobarasi @guardian #FossilFuelMedia like @guardian support the economic growth, GDP paradigm of green consumerism that will kill most life on the planet if it isn’t replaced.

Ever wonder why @guardian never mentions these 20,000 scientists?
