Very good thread. I like this theory overall. I probably wouldn't use the term "good guy" or "bad guy" to describe Rosenstein.
I suspect whoever's name is behind this redaction is someone that RR wanted no part in charging.

He was backed into a corner and had to make a choice, and he chose not to go down with McCabe & co.
A clue to possible names behind the redaction comes from Carter Page's congressional testimony.

Schiff asked CP if he had any contact with the following ppl. He asked in this order:

1. Kushner
2. Flynn
3. Rick Dearborn
4. Sessions
I've made the case for Kushner before.

It seems outrageous that the conspirators would even consider charging the Attorney General.

It's not as crazy as you think think.

Are you aware that Sessions met with Carter Page and PapaD, at the same time, just days before Page visited Russia?
And PapaD has since contradicted Sessions' testimony before Congress that he (Sessions) pushed back against attempts to set up a meeting with the Russians.

It definitely makes me wonder if, at the very least, Sessions' Chief of Staff, Dearborn, was a possibility.
Sessions is also a name significant enough that Rosenstein would say "Hell, no. I want no part of this."
Remember that this was Trump's last Spygate tweet before he ordered the declassifications.

Will we ever learn whose name is behind that redaction?

I'm beginning to wonder.
