Question to @SenatorLeahy: How involved was Kavanaugh in the May 2001 judicial nomination of Chief Judge Timothy Tymkovich over the 10th Circuit?

Yep. That's the circuit that SCOTUS Chief Justice Roberts just referred the Kavanaugh complaints over to.
Or was Kavanaugh involved in the renomination of Tymkovich in 2003?
And yes. This is the court that ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby & wrote the majority opinion for.

So yeah. There's that too.
The 10th Circuit recently reviewed the conduct of the former Chief Judge of the District of Columbia for an alleged rape of a 16 year old girl, who at the time, was a WITNESS in a murder trial that this judge was the lead prosecutor for.

"The panel found that Richard W. Roberts cannot be punished judicially because he was not yet a judge when the incident occurred. He admits to having a sexual relationship with the 16-year-old but claims it was consensual & did not start until after the trial ended."
"Roberts announced his retirement as chief judge for the US District Court for the District of Columbia in March of 2016. That was the same day the allegations against his misconduct arose. The complaint filed with the judicial committee focused on the timing of his retirement."
Note: For those not familiar with fed court system here in DC, the Chief Judge overseas ALL grand jury proceedings. So if it wasn't for the victim reporting this to her AG, who then ordered an investigation into allegations, this judge would have been over Mueller's grand jury.
One can only imagine how this would have played out if this news had broke just one year later - esp in light of the Kavanaugh debacle.

The Utah AG deserves ALL the credit here for taking the victim's allegations seriously & ordering an outside investigation.
The AG commissioned another former fed judge named Paul Cassell to do the investigation, who happens to also be a W Bush appointee but then left the bench to be a victim's rights advocate.

Cassell was one of the attorneys that represented the Jane Does v Jeffrey Epstein.
Highly recommend reading Cassell's report of findings. The transcripts from the phone call that the victim had with the judge in 2015 about his recollection of their "relationship" when she was a witness in the trial he was prosecuting is DAMNING.

All this to say: We shouldn't get our hopes up that the 10th Circuit is going to do much with their judicial review on the Kavanaugh complaints, esp in regards to sexual misconduct.
