Barclays will offer checking accounts for its U.S. online bank which already offers credit cards, savings and loans to 13 million customers. "The more aspects of the relationship a customer has with us, the happier we are." A customer paying for multiple services lowers:
"Bank of America’s businesses sent more than 44,000 referrals to the Global Wealth and Investment Management division, which includes Merrill Lynch and U.S. Trust. At the same time GWIM sent more than 77,000 referrals to the other businesses." Cross selling is everyone's focus.
The value of cross selling explains freemium. But zero commission stock trades is only survivable if you have something else to sell. If a competitor offers a product for free and they can make enough money to keep the lights on, then you have a problem. google.com/amp/s/www.geek…

"Companies can lose a lot of money in their early years but be wonderful businesses if they are acquiring customers with long lives and strong variable margins."

But some businesses just do the losing money part. A critical skill is knowing the difference between the two types.
Customer-based corporate valuation (CBCV) = valuing a business on a "bottoms up" basis by valuing the customers. In a subscription business especially, this is an essential process if you want to understand if real value is being created despite a lack of current GAAP earnings.
"CBCV isn’t about being profitable from day one. It’s about variable profitability in net present value terms (while still being mindful of fixed cost overhead of course!)" Determining whether a specific business is a delicious cheesecake or a turd requires detective work.

Okay, let's jump in with part 2 of my #aspects in #astrology mega thread. Yesterday I spoke about aspects being visual relationships between planets, and that visual connection is what makes them "work," conceptually. We don't actually know what the mechanism is.
The mechanism by which astrology works is NOT SOMETHING I AM TALKING ABOUT TODAY PLEASE & THANK, I'm much more interested in digging into the ways in which the glances that the planets ping back and forth to one another in the heavens manifest.
Remember from everything I said last night: each planet casts seven glances, or aspects. A planet can observe anything where one of its glances falls in the Zodiac, as well as the sign it is in at the time. So each planet can behold eight spots.

It's not how I've experienced sports tickets with friends:
Ticket "debts" all getting called in at once? 1/
2/ Other fans may have a mix of experiences.
Here's ours: Growing up, my family would share season tickets - Orioles or Nats tickets - with a bunch of other families. Families always paid up front and divided those tickets up in a draft. It was a big deal and very clear.
3/ My experience: if you start the season with the expectation of sharing tickets with friends, you would actually divide up the tickets - and pay up front. If you didn't pay for the season's tickets, you weren't getting a real share or a draft spot.
You weren't in.

2/ If a CBDC is just a payment instrument that doesn’t pay interest, then it only really competes with cash. If it also pays interest, then it starts to compete with bank deposits. Then it starts to have implications for price and volume of bank funding. And therefore the MTM.
3/ Assumes central bank sets interest rate on CBDC. This becomes
floor on all other rates in the economy b/c CBDC is safest store of value +
also provides transactional services, no-one else would want to lend to non-CB agents at lower than CBDC rate.
