As I took some time off, let me write what I know about Swami Ayyappa temple at Sabrimala. I will write here details and chronology from my experience of Sabarimala thing from a socio-political angle. I am not a dharmik type guy and pure mlechaa. #SaveSabrimala. 2/n
Why this onslaught by Breaking India Forces (BIF) on Ayyappa Temple. I am not getting into traditions, agama and dharmic stuff.( @Kuvalayamala has provided a great info on that for reference) Purely socio-politics wise why?#SaveSabrimala. 3/n
Before 1980 there are hardly anyone who know Swami Ayyappa outside Kerala and probably some border state districts in adjoining states. #SaveSabrimala. 4/n
Xianity though is rampant in Kerala but I consider late 70s and 80s are the worst time in all southern states where it was actively funded to convert the lower castes (mostly scheduled castes) to Xianity. Not significantly different in Kerala.#SaveSabrimala. 5/n
The private org that is of Swamy Ayyappa Temple (whom I consider as some visionaries in this aspect) came up with a published vidhi (a deeksha based vrat) across caste barriers to be followed for few months before Makara Sankranti. #SaveSabrimala. 6/n
According to it if one follows it to letter and spirit without fail then on Sankranti day they can see a "special moon" at Ayyappa temple. Those who did not follow even if they come there will not be able to see. #SaveSabrimala. 7/n
This seeing moon means all the past sins are gone and you can lead a sinless life #SaveSabrimala. 7/n
Here is brief vidhi - Take a deeksha with a two knots of rice (called iru-mudi) and wear a maala (ridraksha type).Do japam every day. Wear black dress. sleep on the floor. No weat foot wear at all. Everyone who are in deeksha should be addressed as swami .#SaveSabrimala. 7/n
They propagated it like anything. This way for example if a rickshaw puller takes deeksha the folks calling the rickswah "hey rickshwa fellow" is paap. You need to call swami .#SaveSabrimala. 8/n
This made every labor class folks cool. Scores and scores of folks started taking deeksha. By 90s it has become a millions of folks visiting Sabarimala during Sankranti. #SaveSabrimala. 9/n
This led to a lot of problems for the Xian conversion industry. There is no cooler thing than taking Ayyappa deeksha. #SaveSabrimala. 10/n
special trains, busses, you name it has gotten into act. #SaveSabrimala. 11/n
They even roped in celebrities like Amitabh, Yesudas and many more taking Ayyappa deeksha. These Amitabhs also take the same irumudi and same chappal less walking path with next rickshawala swami next. #SaveSabrimala. 12/n
now the xian orgs are furious. They started a parallel "moon showing " program on Sankranti near Sabarimala. The onslaught or kill Sabarimala effort started around 1989 but the popularity only grew massive proportions.#SaveSabrimala. 13/n
now the same cabal is behind the law suit and this SC judgement. #SaveSabrimala. 14/n
Now think why Keralite Hindu is agitated. This is their last straw to Hindu pride of their state after reaching >35% non-hindu levels. Sabarimala is their pride and a success story of modern era (apart from their glorious past). They can't let it go. Period.#SaveSabrimala. 15/n
A temple with some strict deeksha vidhi that is popular and made it caste less for the deity with a popular movement. A complete anti-dote to Xian propaganda against Hindu society as caste discriminative. #SaveSabrimala. 16/n
A 30 year old woman is happy to see her drunkard rickshaw pulling hubby taking three months of sabbatical from drinking and visiting brothels. Why would she not agitate against Supreme Court. #SaveSabrimala. 17/n
for that fellow who is guilty is suddenly called as swami for four months. #SaveSabrimala. 18/n
