1) The "expert" quoted, appears to be the @nytimes go-to person for any trans issues. He has previously approved of extremely dubious medical experiments on newborns involving horse medicine banned for human use by the FDA.
The @nytimes cheered him on.

2) Joshua Safer is the head of the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery and president of the US Professional Association of Transgender Health.
He approved of the medical experiment using horse medicine banned for human use on newborns.

3) Safer states:

A) sex is not biologically determined.
B) gender identity IS biologically determined.

How he arrives at B), he cannot say. Gender identity is "hard-wired", yet not scientifically detectable by any means. It is neither visible, nor genetic nor hormonal.

4) On the one hand, all biological determinants of SEX, easily detectable in all mammals, are rejected as mystification, yet some mysterious, invisible inner sense of femininity or masculinity is declared biologically hard-wired, yet completely undetectable.
THIS IS NOT SCIENCE.

5) This entire @nytimes article regurgitates these bizarre views of someone with a CONFLICT OF INTEREST, as he stands to gain financially from body modification surgeries practiced at his clinic. Hence it is in his advantage to push the ideology that leads people to its doors.

6) As in previous articles on this topic, the @nytimes sollicits no other views from other doctors or scientists. The one-sidedness, failure to point out conflict of interest, and failure to fact-check make this a piece of propaganda, not journalism.

Shame on you, @nytimes.

7) Forgot about the deceptive & contradictory headline.

A) "experts say" - but only ONE is cited
B) biologically determined:

- Headline says GENDER is not
- Article says SEX is not, but GENDER IDENTITY is.

Does the @nytimes have the foggiest clue WTF they're talking about?
