UK public broadcaster is fundraising for harmful trans lobby Mermaids.
Mermaids has a "Guide for young trans people in the UK" funded by the UK Department of Health.

The Guide for young trans people on the Mermaids site was co-produced with Gendered Intelligence, whose own advice to young trans people you can find in this thread:

4/ Back to the Mermaids Guide:

Trans "includes anyone who is IN ANY WAY gender-variant", where "gender-variant" is not defined.

Is it female astronauts? (thread-list here: )
Is it male nurses?

Or is this about heels, nails and gold lamé pocketboocks?
5/ "Sex is between the legs"

Nope. Sex is not just genitals but primary & secondary sex characteristics, as well morphological, physiological, developmental and reproductive differences. It's a whole-body thing.
6/ "Gender is between the ears" - brain or mind?

If mind, then is gender composed of thoughts? Beliefs? Emotions?
Where do they come from? How are these beliefs built up? Is it a purely internal individual conceptual construct, or do societal and peer influences play a role?
7/ There are three sexes, "male, female, and intersex".
Wrong again, there are only two, male and female.

Explanations here:
8/ "Gender has to do with your internal sense of self & how you choose to express yourself."

So internal, is it.

If I express myself by coding a piece of AI software, am I man? woman? androgynous? If I make a film about ants? If I sew?

Or sorry was that about clothes & makeup?
9/ OK so gender seems to be mostly about clothes, and you too can try cross-dressing any time which won't make you trans though they just told us that trans includes anyone who is in any way gender-variant and what gender are jeans and T-shirts.
OH I SEE THEY MEAN THE MAGIC DRESS
10/ Wait now they're talking about PHYSICAL GENDER. But they just told us we needed to distinguish between sex and gender, and gender was between the ears? So are we talking about the skull? the brain?
Or did they maybe mean sex, which is maybe not just between the legs then.
11/ You may choose
a) to live as your BIOLOGICAL SEX
or
b) have surgery performed ON YOUR BODY to present as your PREFERRED GENDER.

How does a physical intervention on your physical body enable you to present as your preferred "internal sense of self" - as they define gender?
12/ In case the young ones aren't confused enough by this random shuffle of murky concepts, let's add: You can "identify as both sexes", which is (per Mermaid definition) what's "between your legs".

I guess this means you can identify as having/being both a penis and a vagina.
13/ Why are young people trans? Mermaid explains:

Case 1: I'm trans because an acquaintance told me I was trans.
14/ Case 2: I'm trans because I don't like gender stereotypes, I'm misunderstood and I think it's disgusting to grow up. Anyway trans can mean anything.
15/ Case 3: I don't identify as trans because my physical state is male without doubt or question even though my physical body isn't though I think it is.
16/ Are the kids confused? Yes, they're very confused, and Mermaids is helping to keep it that way. Two of the three don't even call themselves trans, so why they were chosen to showcase the "diverse meanings of trans" is not clear.

Seems like it's a label Mermaids is imposing.
17/ Key terms:

- Binding: Compressing your breasts to make them disappear. Can cause pain, discomfort, breathing problems (which Mermaids doesn't mention)
- Packing: Putting a fake penis in your underwear

Who said hating your body was fun? Girls, do it anyway, it's a key term.
18/ When you come out, you'll have to educate everyone on what trans means, which, good luck if you're using this guide. Also you'll have to keep insisting that everyone use the "right" pronouns regardless of the cognitive dissonance that you'll all have to pretend doesn't exist.
19/ Parents may experience shock, grief or pain, but you will have to explain that you are just being your true self by squeezing the air out of your lungs to stop being a girl. They are sometimes not reasonable but we can re-educate them. Or they can read this edifying guide.
20/ Now a few "coming out" stories.

Case 1: It is tragic how accepting one’s body is praised and any hatred of it is frowned upon. Rejecting mine and performing the stereotypes of the opposite sex made me free.
21/ Case 2: I believe girls are submissive and boys are dominant so the only way I could be me was to stop being a girl. Being a girl doesn't feel safe. Rebelling by becoming a strong woman was somehow not an option.
22/ Case 3: I suddenly started believing I was a girl and the internet & the gender clinic confirmed it. I'm 16 and am now starting on my pathway towards lifelong medicalization and its attendant side effects which no one will tell me about, not even this edifying publication.
23/ Case 4: Somehow I believed I should have been a girl, and the internet told me I could fix my body. I really wanted boobs but was pressured into getting my penis sliced up to make an new orifice which caused huge problems I won't tell you about. But anyway, I got the boobs.
24/ That was a bit intense and there's really no point talking about the sad stuff because the kids can deal with that on their own so now the fun part: It's NAME and PRONOUN time, and they're all yours! Shed the past, reinvent yourself, it's never too late to relive that dream!
25/ Passing tips:
What clues let you know whether someone is male or female? That is the great mystery that has perplexed living creatures since the dinosaurs went extinct. Maybe no coincidence. Be observant. It may be their hair, clothes, or accessories.
26/ We won't explain why but you, a man performing a woman, are not safe unless people are fooled. That's a tall order since sex recognition is hard-wired into all animals, but just walk confidently and look upwards, that's 50% of passing and will make you look 50% like a woman.
27/ A good mindset for males is to think that you are just as female as any other woman. As we explained, female relates to sex, i.e. what's between your legs. So you must confidently stride along thinking you have just as much of a vagina as any other woman.
Also, buy fake boobs
28/ Now some grooming and makeup tips, because as we know, this is really what being a woman is all about. Especially hair. Hair hair hair, long hair, fringes, hairpieces, wigs, hair extensions, you're a woman aren't you? So hair. But not on your face, there's products for that.
29/ If you're a big burly bloke, then just the hair, the mascara, the confident upward gaze won't suffice to fool everyone.

But have no fear:

"The “feminine walk” may help. If you place each foot across yourself each time you take a step this creates the “bum swish”."
30/ If even the NHS-endorsed feminine bum-swishing won't help, then forget the visuals: just flood your skeptics' auditory input with your dainty feminine voice which you'll have to google how to produce because you'll find that very hard, but we're running out of ideas here.
31/ Notice we slid a new concept into this paragraph: "genetic women".
Hmm, what are those, I thought "females" related to sex but "women" related to gender, so what is genetic gender?

Maybe math will help?
1 half-baked idea + 1 half-baked idea = 1 full-baked idea
32/ Now tips for women who wish to make people believe they're men:

Most importantly, get your sideburns cut straight across, not in a point. Yes, your SIDEBURNS. Lie to the barber. Compress your breasts, whilst attempting to breathe confidently. This is about your true self.
