I get lots of asks about how to become a more informed voter particularly on local elections and ballot issues. Credit for this find goes to my daughter, who just texted me about it — a non-partisan source of info searchable by your locale. Writeup: m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5a…
The League of Women Voters, which has chapters in most states, also distributed candidate info that’s non-partisan and easy to find. Or just download a sample ballot from your local elections office and do some Googling! Whatever you do, VOTE!

Beto making a visual, visceral case against Trump's wall (that Mexico is not paying for). The eminent domain point seems particularly salient, given that much of the privately owned land that would have to be used/seized for Trump's wall is in Texas.

Major Democratic leaders can point out the disenfranchisement on TV for example.

This *may* not be true. I haven't deeply studied this outside the two areas I've lived in this state.

Almost everywhere that @PeoplesMomentum held #Unseat campaign events, Labour made gains - some big - and the Tories lost seats. That's down to Momentum and non-Momentum Labour activists. Campaigning works.

In Trafford (where @PeoplesMomentum ran a mass campaign day), the Tories lost overall control of the council for the first time since 2004, despite only a third of seats being up for grabs. Labour's vote share was 47.3% (up 9.1 points), the Tories 36.8% (down 2 points).
In Portsmouth (where @PeoplesMomentum ran a mass canvass), Labour won 4 new seats (with only a third of seats up for grabs), and its share of the vote went up 12 points.

This is the type of absolute denial of facts and reality occupying the #MAGA crown. There is no where in America, not one state, where the average gas price is not higher, generally by between 40-50 cents, according to the AAA, not known for faking basic data for partisanship.
The link to where you can see this for yourself is provided. I just looked at all fifty states. No state has longer cost gas today than a year ago. And for this particular statement to be true, the cost would actually need to be approx $1.30-$1.50 cheaper than current averages.
For many places, that would mean it being down by almost 50% or more from the average price. Wherever this half of gas sale is, I’d love to know. So there are two options here: this person lives in the one place in America where gas prices are at $1.75 or so, or they are wrong.

But why? What makes them so important, and how do they actually affect our lives?
Local govt manages a lot of different things — and their decisions directly affect your life. There is no level of govt that is more directly responsible for serving your community than your local elected officials. Local govt can affect almost every aspect of your daily life.
Here’s just a few of the things they’re responsible for:

Local school quality

Deciding sanctuary jurisdiction status

Policing and public safety (and holding police accountable)

Affordable housing

Public transit

Alcohol & marijuana ordinances
