Exhibit A: Alabama became the first state in the nation to enact what opponents call a “personhood clause” in its constitution, recognizing “the rights of unborn children, including the right to life.” That makes it possible for the state to ban abortion entirely... 1/

Thread: On Birthright Citizenship

1. I’m overdue for a little rant. There has been a lot of “heat” but no “light” from Democrats and the media on the call by @POTUS to end “birthright citizenship.”
2. What does the issue entail, and why is the Left apoplectic about its potential termination? The Left concocted it in the early 1980s to bestow US citizenship on anyone born in the US, including those born of illegal alien parents.

Last night I promised a thread about #abortion before Roe v Wade legalized it nationally. Until the mid-1800s, common law allowed abortion until "quickening", when fetal movement can be felt. Toxic abortion remedies & doctors competing w midwives led to… 1/
laws outlawing abortion except where pregnancy was likely to be fatal spreading across the country. Bottled abortion remedies could be and were fatal, and doctors, almost all white and male, didn't want midwives competing with them for pregnancy care. 2/
