How do you think her policy knowledge compares with the President of the United States? If 2016 taught us anything, it’s that there is an enormous gap between the level of competence and expertise expected of men and that of women.
I didn’t intend to go on a rant with this but now that I’m all fired up, here goes. As a young woman, I can tell you from experience how many of my professional interactions begin with the assumption that I have no idea what I’m talking about, and I don’t think I’m alone here.
This usually happens with men but not always, because women are often conditioned to adopt the attitude of their male colleagues. No matter what I accomplish professionally, the unspoken belief that I am less knowledgeable than men in my industry has persisted.

1. The main takeaway for politicians and pundits should be that populist parties are NOT the voice of the people! In fact, in almost all countries they are BY FAR the least favored party!
2. Favorability gap between populist and traditional parties is massive in North and substantial in much of South! This is even the case with left populist Podemos (less favorable than PP, although poll before govt crisis!) and most normalized populist radical right party, DF!

1. Let’s break-down why @prose4321’s “I’m an AIDS historian!” rant is one of the worst (and most dangerous) AIDS op-eds ever to appear in the NYT. I hope we direct most of our anger at the Times, which doubled down on its history of promoting gays who scold gays.
2. Patrick’s subsequent meltdown on Twitter revealed the kid behind the future book deal as he lashed out at actual AIDS historians and experts he’d never heard of before yesterday. We all got schooled in his misunderstood millennial wisdom.
3. He gets an A for knowing what thrills the Times editorial staff – the bad-gays-had-it-coming morality tale as told to you by an actual gay – the brave truth-teller confronting our dirty laundry for our own good.
