Srikakulam Temple diaries 3

Today I will share some pics of SRI MUKHALINGAM temple of Jalumuru Mandal of Srikakulam.

Sri Mukhalingam temple built on the banks of the Vamsadhaara river is also known as Dakshina Kaashi. It is very near 2 Someshwara temple.
Built in 8th century CE by Kamarnava II of Eastern Ganga dynasty.
Mukhalingam Swamy is also called Mandukeshwara as the idol has self manifested from the Manduka tree. The Shiva lingam has a face like quality of Lord Shiva so is called Sri Mukham (means face in Telugu)
According to Skanda purana, Lord Shiva appeared here in Manduka tree to release Gandharvas, who were born as tribals, from a curse.

Main entrance of the actual Mukhalingam temple.
Each pic has to b enlarged to view the intricate designs.
The temple has 2 prakaras. The inner prakara has smaller temples around it.
Vimanas of 3 smaller temples. Enlarge to see the designs.
Intricate designs
I wouldn't want to give wrong information.
Can anyone help me with these carvings? @brakoo @Gopanarya @GhorAngirasa @_ugra_
Varaha Deva and Narsimha Deva on the walls of the main temple.
Carvings around the doorway
Surya Deva on his chariot.

The whole panel with Elephants, horses and notice the perforated windows amongst the carvings.
Such beautiful and intricate carvings on the doorways.
Gajalakshmi on the lower part and so much more on top.
Again help required. These two sculptures have a story and significance. So whoever can, please let me know.
In the first one, it is Buddha on the lower part with disciples.
The second show Shakti swaroopini with a tiger on top and below.
Sringara Rasa, an affectionate couple in the first one, and a lady admiring her Sringara in the second pic.
An army ready for battle with swords, knives, shields. Warriors on foot and on elephants.
The upper panel is conveying a story. Notice the perforated windows in between.
1st - looks like Lord Shiva & Parvati Maa on Nandi.
2nd- intricately carved doorway with Ganesh on it.
3rd - an outlet of water, as if Vasuki is pouring the water.
The first two pics I am not too clear, the the third pic is the ten armed Durga maa.
Such beauty around.
These are at the entrance.

Why do I get the feeling that there is a touch of Chola sculpture in these figures?
The 1st pic is at the entrance of the main temple. Though someone said it was Pali, I recognised Telugu letters there. So checked after i got back. The second pic is from the net. It is ancient Telugu. So I confirmed that the inscription is ancient Telugu.
I have not done full justice to capture the beauty of the work on this temple complex.
Anyone going to Srikakulam, do not miss this temple.
Sarve jana sukhino bhavantu. 🙏
I am told it is not Buddha but Lakulisa.
