I know I have some followers who are planning to go in tomorrow and quietly fill in a circle next to Baker/Polito here in Massachusetts. Let me suggest why you should choose otherwise.
I think it’s been pretty easy if you’re a white/middle(or higher) class/cisgender/otherwise comfortable person to kinda cruise during this administration. You’re still not directly threatened.
And so you can go with the “Baker the manager” and “Massachusetts with checks and balances” line that I’ve seen going around a lot.
The thing is, though, everything is on the ballot this year.
Everything.
I mean, I don’t know that I know anyone who doesn’t have a pre-existing condition. Don’t we all? It’s clear what direction the federal government is heading in on that, right? arkansasonline.com/news/2018/oct/…
Oh, you say, but I am not voting for them!
No, you’d be voting for the guy who keeps trying to push people off of Medicaid. bostonglobe.com/news/politics/…
This isn’t good management; this is not seeing real people with real health needs.
The earth doesn’t really care if you “believe” in climate change. It’s just going to keep happening.
And we’re a coastal state.
And we are running out of time globalnews.ca/video/4531314/…
Baker keeps cutting the state climatologist every year.
That is gobsmackingly irresponsible.
He got all sorts of nice headlines about the “climate bill,” but that was small ball.
And that’s really who Baker is as a leader.
If we have 12 years to turn things around on the climate, we cannot afford that at any level.
Do you can about criminal justice reform? The Governor appoints judges.
Think or hope Warren will run in 2020? Guess who appoints replacement Senators.
Then yes, you WOULD be sending someone down to contribute to the GOP mess in DC.
And yeah, the Board of Ed.
This is my pinned tweet right now because this is who we are: Massachusetts is a brain state.
We don’t export coal or oil or wheat or soybeans; we make people better educated. We make people smarter. We support inventions and innovations that make the world a better place to live.
And what has Baker’s contribution to that been?

He pushes vo-tech grants. Those touch a minimal number of kids, and, even for the schools that get them, don’t do anything to support or sustain day-to-day operations.
And he did this:
We had that debate, and the state overwhelmingly told Baker he was wrong.
But that is all he has.
You want to send this guy back to appoint more people to the Boards that oversee preK, K-12, and higher ed?
This is our economy, and this is our contribution.
And he’s got nothing.
Look, you don’t want to admit that you didn’t vote for the nice, tall, conservative? Sure thing.

But don’t fill in a circle for Baker tomorrow. Please. Massachusetts can’t afford it.

Oh, and for goodness sake: vote #Yeson3!
