This is quite a big deal. Lucy McBath, who will now be Rep. McBath, in the seat the nation watched John Ossoff vie for, lost her son Jordan Davis to a gunman who opened fire on the 17-year-old and his friends. Lucy turned tragedy into activism, and will now go to congress.
Beyond that, this black woman, who joined @MomsDemand and was among the Mothers of the Movement who spoke at the 2016 Democratic convention and was inspired by the Parkland massacre to do even more, will take the seat once held by Tom Price and Newt Gingrich. The arc of history.
Last thing: no Democrat has held the seat in Georgia’s 6th congressional District since the waning year of the Carter administration. So again, big deal.
