I was 17 at the time. I knew how to use the computer because in 1997, I had taken computer lessons learning Wordperfect, Corel, and Lotus 1-2-3.
I had read and heard about the internet, and seeing the doors open to that cybercafe just beside my house was the most glorious thing.

As I reminisce about those years, I understand that I was privileged. I was lucky. If I was living in a village or a tiny city, I would never have had that opportunity.
I know this because as a Uni student, there was no cybercafe in Umuahia, for example until 2005.

Makes me wonder how many children will never rise up to their full potential because they were born in the "wrong" place, or dont have parents who can make things happen to change their experiences and environment.

This is why we will build a school for indigent children where I come from, so others can experience the access & joys I have had despite how they were born.
