It’s been a while since my last ‘Celestial Observation’ and as many of you know it is my tradition and culture to address the nation towards every national election. So here it goes. This is for the discerning and the elect called for Nation building. Open your hearts & listen.
There is no doubt that we mostly live our country and have been betrayed severally by people we invested trust in thus leaving us no choice than sticking to narratives that are in tandem with our angst rather than the logical & Objective ones that promotes peace & congeniality.
I must admit that Nigeria needs more ‘Nation Builders’ than politicians and political supporters than ever. It is not enough to make a choice from the options amongst the political elites but to become part and parcel of the Educated Elites whose eyes of understanding are peeled.
I speak to the young bourgeoning leaders seeking like minds to emulate likewise those aligned with groups with a political agenda. It is not a crime to support a cause or political aspiration of any of the political leaders/elites. But our hows and whys matter for future sake.
In words and deeds we have laid examples of how systems can be engaged without being riotous or chaotic in verbiage, when we can be succinctly apt & decorous. Battles are first won in the mind and the multitude of misdemeanors are efforts in futility in the socio-political space.
Nigeria needs us all including those we seldom agree with at this critical point of our polity. We can’t build a nation as complex as ours with angst, discontent and acrimony. We must constructively engage, share ideas and disagree with emotional intelligence. We all want peace.
I’m equally guilty atimes in my use of lexicons under the assumption that each and everyone can read beneath the text but the real issues often fall between the cracks leading to misinterpretations or forming munition in the hands of political opportunists. I apologize. 😞
Twitter is a powerful tool. We have proven its power with several successful advocacies in 5years with both covert and overt campaign that has brought succor and healed systems of agelong ills. It is time to reinforce the culture of deploying it to help the weak & educate all.
There was a time when we rally around an issue and get it solved together without considering our diversity or political differences. We have bought wheelchairs for people we don’t know in remote villages together, we have fed the poor & paid hospital bills. We can do more.
In the same spirit of Unity we can get beyond the major political decision without hate, blackmail, lies and quarrels. When we raise the bar and do better, mischievous and mendacious element will have no one to play with at their level. They will be revealed for who they are.
Nigeria will remain after politicians are long gone and we will be left with our role in the crisis that has left the future of our children and lives ones derelict. It is time to take responsibility for we are society. The power belongs to the people and we must not be played.
I must confess that regardless of who is in power, the educated elites will always be relevant as institutional gap fillers. They’re going nowhere & may not be ethically poised to take sides. We must root ourselves on the side of Nigeria, speak truth to power regardless of party.
If I were to sit with the President today in counsel as often done under every admin, my recommendation will be that he makes a believer of Nigerians. Not necessarily because he wishes to remain President but to ensure that the will of the people stand come what may.
We the People want the fairest and freest election in the history of Nigeria. Whatever the outcome, there must be acceptance and peaceful transition if the incumbent is not chosen by the majority according to the electoral/constitutional provision.
We are tired of hate. We are sick of lies. We are traumatized and besieged on everyside by bloodletting and abysmal human rights abuses pointing to the failure of the Nigerian State. It is time to heal NIGERIA by doing the needful as ought. Leave a legacy. It is never late.
I personally don’t hate anyone neither do I like anyone. I will always be to Presidents what they are to the people. Unlike many, I can’t shut my ears to the incessant cries of the people. I can’t play dead to the cries of widows & sufferings of our heroic troops & uniformed men.
A part of us dies with every fallen soldier, policeman, warden, firefighter, immigration officer, civil defense officer and patriotic civil servant. There are ways to end corruption by ensuring a level playing field for all. Showing that we care is a reflection of humanity.
There is no point in being corrupt in abundance. There is no reason to be greedy when there is enough for all. Leadership must begin to mean more than grabbing political power. We can unleash the potentials of the people by freeing the market & relieving Govt of needless monopoly
Nigerians can’t be fulfilled anywhere in the world however successful but on their own fatherland. We sure can make Nigeria home for all. This is worthy of being remembered for than the strife and anguish that have currently enveloped the entire nation. It’s not too late.
There are polices and legislations we can pass today that will make the difference and leave a legacy. We can douse the ego and think of posterity. It is time to allow our humanity take preeminence and give the people something that acknowledges their God given dignity.
Criticizing Any administration need not mean hate or dislike but attempts to hold to account which is the responsibility of all citizens whether in support of the political party or not. Identity politics of hate has done us more harm than good. It is time to Unite the people.
If there is anything I appreciate President @MBuhari for as well as the @SPNigeria @NGRSenate @bukolasaraki @YakubDogara @HouseNGR It is their listening ears especially when difficult requests like this is made in the spirit of Nationality. We Can, We Will & We Must do this.
While we fast pace the transformational bills at @nassnigeria we can as well address @inecnigeria and reiterate the need to jettison all agenda to rig elections in favor of any soul or interest. They are equipped and funded to serve in the interest of Nigerians & Nigeria.
We understand and believe that no one is more Nigerian than any other Nigerian. Nigeria thus belong to all of us regardless of our Clan, Clout, Creed or Craze. The Nigerian concept cum construct as re-envisioned is inseparable from Nigerians. We can’t love one & loathe the other.
How I wish there were ideologies in our politics as it impacts the well being of the populace, then the temptation of sacrificing one’s role in Nation Building can be worth it all but sadly there are none. Permit me to raise the bar while demanding your understanding.
I’ve seen a lot, heard enough, given so much & sacrificed a great deal to my fatherland to align with interests against the progress of Nigeria. Anything outside standing in the gap & being there for those who has no voice would be a disservice to my being & humanity at large.
This may not mean much to a lot of people but those who know what I’m saying would appreciate this more. Vote your conscience and avoid spreading hate. It has never helped, it won’t now or ever would be helpful. Think of your children.
...End of Celestial Observation...
