Doing a student voice each half term on google forms or survey monkey with your class is an excellent way to reflect on your practice on an individual and department level. Who does this?
1. Is there any entry task every lesson that tests prior learning? (Are non-negotiable in place?)
2. Do I feel I am getting better at maths this year?
3. Which forms of feedback help you improve? Please check more than one: (written, review lessons, Hegarty maths, mini-whiteboards, verbal explanations)
4. I feel I can learn well from my teacher’s explanations
5. The behaviour of most of my class is good so few distractions
6. Hegarty maths has been a useful way to do my homework
7. I often feel stretched in my lessons - the work is at the right level to make me think hard
8. I feel supported if I get stuck
9. The fortnightly quiz helps me see strengths and weaknesses
10. The review lesson after the fortnightly quiz helps me improve my weaknesses
11. What would you like to see more of in lessons to help you LEARN? How can we become better?
All questions multiple choice using 4 choices from strongly agree to strongly disagree with no neutral choice to force students to choose either way.
All parents and students emailed. Momentum gained by sending spaced emails thanking for excellent responses.
