In all of American history, there has _never_ been a federal judge whose final confirmation vote was determined by a vice-presidential tiebreaker...
(In 1986, then-Vice President George H.W. Bush unnecessarily broke a tie on a procedural motion with respect to the confirmation of Judge Daniel Manion, but the final vote to confirm him was 48-46.)
