NY debut 12/6/43 at approximately 9 pm on WNBT. Bretherton's western with singing Smith Ballew was made by Lesser's Principal Productions for initial theatrical release in 1937 by Fox. Included in a program with shorts that was listed for an 8:30 pm start this Monday night.
NY TV debut 12/6/48 from 8:30 to 10:25 pm on WPIX. Korda Brothers' 1939 ode to British imperialism (filmed in 1929 by Cooper and Schoedsack) would not be seen in its full Technicolor glory on TV for decades in New York City, as far as I can tell.
12/6/53 from 8 to 9 pm on WABD. Erstwhile Sweeney Todd's 1948 British quota quickie was broadcast under original UK title, even as it was being shown in theaters as HORROR MANIACS on a double bill with Slaughter's 1946 film originally known as THE CURSE OF THE WRAYDONS.
NY TV debut 12/6/58 at 11:15 pm on WCBS' "The Early Show.'' Channel 2 was showing an awful lot of films that were shot in Technicolor this week. I'm wondering if they were doing some color broadcasting that is not reflected in archival newspaper TV listings.
NY TV debut 12/6/63 at 11:20 pm on "The Best of Broadway.'' ABC flagship carried the network's color broadcasts that began with "The Jetsons'' in September 1962. Listings indicate Ch. 7 wasn't yet showing local films in color, much less in original 3-D for Baker's 1953 noir.
US TV debut 12/6/68 from 9 to 11 on "The CBS Friday Night Movies.'' It's painful to watch the failing Clift as an American scientist in lumbering, Germany-filmed spy thriller. Released in US theaters a month after his death in October 1966.
12/6/73 at 1 pm on WNEW's "Flashing Phrase Flick,'' hosted by Ed Ladd. Cagney's independently made flop JOHNNY COME LATELY (1943), which followed his peak in YANKEE DOODLE DANDY. Charming if low-key tale of small-town newspapering directed by William K. Howard.
12/6/78 from 2:40 to 4:57 am on WCBS' "The Late Show.'' Bloated with commercials, Garnett's 1943 wartime blockbuster followed the feature-length "Love Boat'' pilot and a "Kojak'' rerun on "The CBS Late Movie.''
12/6/83 at 1 pm on WOR's "Movie 9.'' Moguy's 1944 "Casablanca'' knockoff benefits from footage salvaged from Cooper and Schoedsack's abortive Lawrence of Arabia biopic and uncredited Max Steiner music cues recycled from THE LOST PATROL (1934).
12/6/88 at 2:20 and 4 am on "TNT Overnight.'' Conway and Walter Abel play same amnesiac playwright accused of murder in RKO double feature. Filmed in 1945 by Anthony Mann and 1936 by Benjamin Stoloff.
12/6/93 at 9 pm on AMC. Dieterle's 1952 noir was included in same package of black-and-white Paramounts as MY SON JOHN that premiered on ABC in 1974. Neither seems to have gone into syndication, though this had a bit more exposure on cable.
12/6/98 at 3 pm on TNT. Remember "The New Classics''? Leo and Johnny provide contemporary Sunday afternoon alternative to AROUND THE WORLD IN 30 DAYS (1956), showing at the same time (without commercials) on sister station TCM.
12/6/63 at 5 pm on WNBC's "Movie 4.'' 1955 Ealing comedy was being broadcast in color, and had been since its 10/02/60 NY TV debut on the Sunday late-night edition of "Movie 4'' on what was then WRCA.
