Yahia al-Houthi, the brother of Houthi leader, admits torture in an exclusive video obtained by the AP. Yahia led a committee that visited the detention centers. Another Houthi figure said: "We saw what made our eyes flow with tears of blood." #Yemen
Mansour al-Adani, a teacher in Sanaa, was arrested by Houthis in August 2015 after a mix-up with a suspect with a similar name. “They said it’s a mistake and they will release me,” al-Adani said. Instead, he was held for two years. His mother had a stroke and died.
After Houthis forced displacement of rival tribes, they chased them in their displacement. This is a 24-year-old college student from Saada's Saqeen who was snatched from his home, detained, hung by his wrists from the ceiling and beaten on the head and back.
Houthis systematically detain and torture journalists. Mohammed al-Washie, Ibrahim al-Jahdabi, and Mahmoud al-Ghabri from Dhamar are among many. One burned with cigarettes and hot melted plastic was dripped on his body and a second left with a broken leg.

After criticizing Houthis in a Whatsapp group, a poet said he was tortured, beaten, and injected with a substance that caused him to urinate blood and caused dark red spots all over his body. He was released after paying thousands of dollars.
Yahya Haig, School Principal, was held and tortured by Houthis in an ancient castle in Hodeida. "Before they hang you, they tell you to do a specific exercise, to make you tired and feel the pain more. They ask you to sit down and stand up for 1,000 or 2,000 times."
Farouk saved lives inside Hodeida castle, despite his own torture and detention for no crime except that he treated a wounded detainee who was brought to his health center bleeding. Now he lives in a displaced camp, with no support from the government.
