In 2016, I repeatedly predicted that there was no way Trump would win the election. I was wrong about that. However, I also predicted he would be a screaming disaster as president. I was right about that. (Although truth be told, I had no idea just how bad he would be.)
Keep that in mind as I now make my first official 2020 prediction: Donald Trump will not be the GOP candidate for president. (There are just too many possible reasons for him not to be. Not a sure thing, by any stretch of the imagination. But...I believe that's what'll happen.)
You may now resume your daily wailing, moaning and rending of your garments.

Joe Biden is the most establishment, business as usual candidate the Dems could run and thus most vulnerable to the Trump message. He has also historically been a weak candidate.
He is a good man and has given much to the American people. He should be honored. He should help the Democrats win. He has a vital role to play.
But that is not as candidate. There are a dozen compelling talented candidates who could beat Trump or whomever the Republicans run.

I keep seeing representatives of the right (and sometimes of the far left) defending Trump and I wonder, have they no decency? How many incidents of racism, misogyny, lying, corruption, service to foreign enemies, or incompetence does it take for them to stand down?
Yet they do not. They defend the wall although it is not needed, the crisis is fabricated, it is founded in racism and vanity, it is linked to concentration camps and children in cages and unnecessary deaths on the southern border. They defend Trump's claims of no collusion...
...even though evidence of collusion includes the president himself asking for the assistance of the Russians, embracing Russian law-breaking to support his own campaign, defenses of the Russians, giving national secrets to the Russians, obsequious service to Vladimir Putin,...

I can think of few instances when a political leader has been so pitch perfect in tone and substance than @NancyPelosi over the last few months. That is good, as she ascends for a second time to the Speakership, she is the most important person in America right now.
Her career is a remarkable story of achievement--by far the greatest success story of an American woman in our political history. She is surrounded by a great team that is going to change the nature of how our government works almost instantly.
That does not guarantee success on all fronts..or even many fronts. But we have been without oversight of the president for two years as he has presided over the wholesale corruption of his office, of service to our enemies and of compiling and compounding threats to the country.
