/ That all of us should have to respond to this again means an editorial and news team briefing is in order. Let's recap the past two years of letters-to-the-editor and an Opinion piece on this topic by @latimes.
/ In December 2016, @latimes retracted letters they published, "The Times regrets publishing letters about the Japanese American internment that weren't 'civil, fact-based discourse'", after historians and the Japanese American community provided facts. latimes.com/travel/la-tr-l…
/ In February 2017, @latimes published an Opinion piece, "In 1942, we favored Japanese internment. Shame on us."

/ November 29, 2018, @latimes published David Stone's letter, stating "Roosevelt acted not out of xenophobia toward Japanese Americans, but rather his intent to protect citizens..." A false narrative, as LA Times has previously acknowledged.

/ This brings us to reader reactions published by .@latimes on December 2, 2018 (more are coming). And, the statement by .@jamuseum latimes.com/opinion/reader…
/ .@DenshoProject wrote in 2016 the editor "realizes now that historical trauma and racism aren’t a game, and that asking readers to do the work of countering such dangerous viewpoints is unethical and, frankly, bad journalism."

/ Today, our historical organization was trolled again, because of course, it is December 7. Our history is that of Americans of Japanese descent. However, the false narratives, hate, and 75-year-old rhetoric live on because some allow it to go unchecked.
/ We represent history that includes Congressional Gold Medal recipients, those who gave their lives for this country while their families were incarcerated. We represent children incarcerated solely due to their ancestry, nothing else. We represent those souls who died in camp.
/ .@latimes If your team needs a briefing, let us know. We're a National Treasure representing this history. The .@jamuseum teaches this history. We are minutes away and ready to help your team understand the danger of repeating false narratives from the last century.
