I'd be delighted to compromise with "remaining" in the EU, if the decision to do so required at least £400bn of wealth taxes (on property and shares) in the UK to be redistributed amongst the poorest in the UK. In fact, I suspect that would have overwhelming support.

I see EU as a democratic deficit, you want me to vote remain give me a sacrificial lamb - the HoL as unrepresentative(2) and campaign to remove the deficit in EU (3). I'd still want more and not a return to the status quo, hence (1).
... every time someone says "we should just remain and go back to how it was" then I become a more staunch leaver.
