Seeing toucans in the wild is among my life wildlife highlights.
Probably my single coolest wildlife moment was seeing 20 Andean condors using a waterfall in Bolivia as a bath. Or walking around a corner on a trail and finding myself 10 feet from a grizzly bear, though not sure cool is the right word for that.
I once had a large monkey in Thailand bare its teeth at me for getting too close walking up temple steps. Honestly, that was more frightening than the grizzly bear or walking on Louisiana bayou trails with sleeping alligators next to you.
Walking right past an alligator takes a certain amount of belief that you are probably going to die young anyway
I also once saw a pair of scarlet macaws in full flight in Costa Rica. That was pretty first rate, along with the resplendent quetzal in both CR and Bolivia. A mountain lion once crossed the road in front of me in Oregon. I also heard wolves howl in southern New Mexico.
