Oval Office meeting
PELOSI: “You should not have a Trump shutdown.”
TRUMP interrupts: “A what? Did you say — Trump? Oh.” (He smiles)
PELOSI: “…you have the votes. You should pass it.”
TRUMP interrupts: “No we don’t have the votes, Nancy, because in the Senate we need 60.”
PELOSI: “You should not have a Trump shutdown.”

PELOSI: The fact is you do not have the votes in the House.
TRUMP: Nancy, I do.
PELOSI: Well, let’s take the vote and we’ll find out.
TRUMP: Nancy. Nancy. We need border security.
PELOSI: Of course we do.
TRUMP: People are pouring into our country, including terrorists.
TRUMP: Nancy, I do.

Pelosi reminds Trump lots of House Republicans just lost their seats. Trump interjects: “We’ve gained in the Senate. Nancy. We’ve gained in the Senate.” Schumer jumps in: “When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana he’s in real trouble.” Trump replies: “I did!”
Trump snaps at Schumer: “I will shut down the government… I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck… I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. And I’m gonna shut it down for border security.”
Mike Pence sat there silently through the televised portion of that awkward Oval Office meeting with Trump, Pelosi and Schumer.
That was a wild and bizarre Trump-Pelosi-Schumer meeting, and they should do it more often. There's value for the public to witness the real dynamics between political leaders.

In case you had any illusions, that Trump-Pelosi-Schumer meeting should disabuse you of the notion that the next two years will usher in a new era of bipartisanship.
