What's kind of weird is that nobody is calling Trump's falling back on the "Mexico would pay for the wall" promise FRAUD.

To clarify: Fraud = engaging in deception to gain something of value by inducing another to part with something of value: money, a vote, legal rights...

Sure, you can argue that candidates "lie" on the campaign trail all the time - but this isn't quite the same:

This isn't a case of domestic policy promises failing because of opposition pushback - he even asked the former president of Mexico to help perpetuate the fraud.

But more importantly there is an actual tangible financial cost to his knowing 'misrepresentation' - more than simply not following through on securing foreign funding, the bait+switch to use federal funding to ensure his base is satisfied was clearly part of the plan all along.

And of course that's going to come out in the emails and such from those lower on the totem pole as they continue to flip and hand their emails over to Mueller, SDNY, EDNY, EDVA, etc. TBH, that's probably the neatest way for this all to end...

just plain ol' fraud without the porn stars, playboy models, and pedophiles.

C'mon, some former campaign staffer must have some emails where they pushed back on the Wall platform about what was going to happen when MX didn't pay...

Actually, I wonder if there's any way that Mexico could bring charges against him.

I'm really still in favor of Mexico getting behind building four walls for Trump... plus one ceiling, and a dirt floor.

It could be right on the border... Mexico could even recoup their costs by charging admission to throw day-old tortillas to him, like feeding animals at a zoo. Or maybe a serious upcharge to toss him a cold leg from KFC. 🤣

But... seriously.

Threatening to shut down the government if he doesn't get his funding doesn't make things better - it only exacerbates the criminality - he's extorting the democrats for refusing to give into his fraudulent scheme.
