... instead takes her deal (ie Leave option) vs no Brexit (Remain) direct to the country in a People’s Vote.

That way (she thinks) she has at least half a chance to get her deal, vs no chance whatsoever down the Parliamentary route.
She can plausibly claim that implementing the result will be easy, because EU has agreed her deal already, and remain is a snap of the fingers and done.

Of course the ERG would scream bloody murder, and extreme Leavers wouldn’t be best pleased, but I’d guess that the two choices on offer would collectively satisfy 80% of voters ie all but the true extremes.
In the event, she could even offer Remain+ ie remain with added sweeteners, so that the average voter would be better off than just bringing forward the 2016 status quo.
After all, if she can invent an entirely fictional “Brexit dividend”, why not do the same for Remain?
