So i will thread together my idea on how to get prem youngsters out on loan whilst at same time limiting the financial burden L1 and L2 clubs have to endure in current times (crazy amounts/conditions attached to many loans incl agents fees/accommodation costs etc) EFL DRAFT -
This applies only to 48 clubs in L1/L2 btw & 20 clubs from Premier League. Champ clubs can still do normal loans etc. This is for players aged 17-20 years of age from Premier League Academies this EFL draft Idea from me which benefits them, us and their Prem clubs they belong to-
Each June, 20 prem clubs each designate 5 of their best youth players aged 17-20 who are ready to go get EFL playing minutes/experience for upcoming season. So 100 youngsters go into the EFL draft poolSaturday to be held on a Saturday Mid way to end of June -
The Draft would work as follows rankings wise by way of prem table, So Man City 5 youngsters would go first based on last season and so on. So top 10 of prem teams (50 players would be available to 24 L1 teams) and bottom 10 prem teams (50 players available to 24 L2 teams) -
The worst bottom 10 clubs position wise from previous season in L1(6 teams plus 4 promoted from L2)get to pick 2 players each from top finishing prem teams in designated order so say Rochdale as example could get 2 ManCity youngsters on loan from a pool of 5 available Man C kids-
And so on it goes until each team acquires their 2 players. The excess players not taken can go to 2 clubs who got promoted into L2 from Non League. The rules involved for EFL clubs is simple regards playing time and care of duty for players as follows -
All EFL clubs would have to feed into central Database weekly reports on players, game footage, interviews with youngsters, constructive feedback and playing and training minutes. Should any prem youngster not be involved in 50% playing time over a season, that EFL club would be-
Banned/taken out of the following years draft and have a one season period of not being able to loan any prem youngster to their club. The cost of these loans would be 0 salary wise to EFL L1/L2 clubs and prem clubs would pay for players to be accommodated for season loan -
This is win/win for Prem clubs looking to develop their younger players with proper mens football/way of life in the lower leagues. @SkyFootball could film the whole project/Draft etc & film a show following up on progress of the youngsters out on loan for season -
There would be an excess of players outside of the 100 designated for January in event of season ending injuries so clubs can replace any loan who has to go back to their club -
Each EFL club 2 weeks prior to the draft would get notice of the upcoming players being put into the draft so they can do their scouting analysis on the 5 players from clubs they can draft from to see which 2 they want to take. This whole thing can be tweaked of course but -
The pro's for this EFL draft are win win for EFL clubs and @SkySportsPL who want their talented young players going out and playing proper football to get coached and proper experience in the @EFL Just my thoughts/Opinion on all this. Thanks for your time :)
