12/16/60 at 11:15 pm on WABC's "Night Show.'' 1956 British biopic of wartime plane crash survivor coincidentally aired the same awful day that two jet airliners collided over New York City, killing 132 people, including five in a Brooklyn fire. (h/t @clore_Man).
US TV debut 12/16/63 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on "NBC Monday Night at the Movies.'' Irwin Allen's cheesy 1960 remake of a silent landmark was offered to Clifton Webb, who wisely passed. So Claude Rains played Professor Challenger.
NY TV debut 12/16/63 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm on WOR's "Million Dollar Movie.'' David Lean's 1947 UK version, distributed theatrically in the US by Universal, had been on TV since 1955. But Universal's 1934 in-house version arrived later via Screen Gems.

12/16/78 from 8 to 10:30 pm on WOR's "Million Dollar Movie.'' NY TV debut 6/3/57 on MDM, butchered to fit a 90-minute time slot. McCarey's 117-minute Nazi-themed romance eventually got 2 hours w/commercials, but 150 minutes provided on this night 40 years ago was more like it.
12/16/83 at 11 pm on WNET. Schertzinger's 1941 Crosby vehicle made NY TV debut 12/31/60 at 12:15 am on WCBS' "The Late Show,'' following Guy Lombardo's New Year's Eve show.
12/16/88 at 2:20 am on TNT. William Reynolds, who was packing more than a rod in Harold Kress' NO QUESTIONS ASKED (1952), played Olivier's son in CARRIE, Jane Wyman's son in ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS and Fred MacMurray's son in THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW.
12/16/93 at 7 pm on AMC. Robson's wonderful 1957 adaptation of Grace once-scandalous novel Metalious' novel did not made its US TV debut (in two parts) until 1/22 and 1/23/70 on CBS -- after the prime-time soap opera it spawned ran from 1964-69 on ABC.
12/16/98 at 11:30 pm on TCM's "Feature Presentation with Robert Osborne.'' First time I ever saw LeRoy and Berkley's masterpiece was at a screening at Trinity College in Hartford CT, circa 1974.
