1/ Good article by @ryanstruyk summarizing @CNN recent poll of Trump supporters. I’m sure they hoped to show a fractured and discouraged base but from their poll I see a vibrant and hopeful coalition.

Keep in mind these results are from Trump supporters.

cnn.com/2018/12/17/pol…
2/ Let’s start with his general polling. A propaganda line says Trump is weaker today as a result of Mueller & policy failures like not having completed the wall. Even some on the right like @Cernovich & @AnnCoulter claim it.

Reality? Historical steadiness of poled support.
3/ Why would such a high percentage leave open the possibility Trump could be implicated in the Russia investigation? Because unlike Hillary’s mid-year exam, this investigation isn’t rigged. It could go either way. That’s actually healthy.

(I am personally at a 5% chance.)
4/ Most of the 4 in 10 say his dealings with Russia during the campaign were “unwise”. After 2 years of an endless onslaught of overhyped BS, Trump supporters still see it as overhyped BS.

I bet those 3 in 10 that disapprove Trump’s handling think Mueller should be shut down.
5/ Keep in mind this is a poll of Trump supporters. It includes Independents and some Democrats. To remove Trump, 47 Dems need to be joined by 20 Reps. Based on this @CNN poll that’s not happening. So think of everything already known. None of that will lead to Trump’s removal...
6/ This is another one of those interesting results. Trump supporters love how Trump is handling the economy and they believe the economy can get much better than it is now. As long as Trump’s base sees him as the key to a growing economy, Trump will be re-elected easily.
7/ Believe it or not there are those in Trump’s base who don’t care about the wall and don’t believe it will ever be built. They support Trump for economic or other reasons. That’s good. If this result was 100% support for the wall that would be a sign of a shrinking base.
8/ Trump supporters overwhelmingly love how Trump is handling policy. Those trying to make arguments that Trump has failed to be aggressive enough on policy are not supported by data. He’s actually in the Goldilocks zone.
9/ Summary? After 2 years of endless media onslaught, of Mueller investigation, of Dem resistance, what you still have is Trump overwhelmingly supported by his base and with historically steady approval by the broad electorate.

Trump must love his positioning. /end
