Paul Ryan’s dream to cut taxes really wasn’t that hard once “conservatives” sat in a Heritage auditorium in June 2017 and said they didn’t want revenue-neutral tax reform.

All Ryan had to do was cut taxes and blow up the deficit.

Don’t pat yourself on the back too hard, Paul.
Paul Ryan also had a House majority that falsely believed tax cuts pay for themselves — m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_59… — a Senate to pass it with 50, and a Party desperate to accomplish *something* after they failed on health care.

Again, don’t pat yourself on the back too hard.
Republicans also used budget reconciliation to make the deficit worse. (Definitely not the purpose of budget reconciliation.)

We shouldn’t forget that they basically cheated the traditional rules of Congress to pass a deficit-busting tax cut that did little for actual people.
