Brexit is an insult, a slap in the face to hard working men and women, a kick in the teeth for those trying to start or grow businesses, an outrage to underfunded services, and an affront to the human dignity of millions of UK and EU citizens being toyed with like poker chips.
A monstrosity on the scale of Brexit demands rage. Instead, MPs boo and jeer like kids at a pantomime, and call each other “Honourable Friend” when what they mean is “destroyer”. Where’s the passion, the fire, the desire to save us? Why is the fight always tomorrow, never today?
Meanwhile, those with friends in high places, with wealth, with hedge fund and City connections, with the means and the resources to ride out any Brexit chaos however violent... All these wolves practically explode with glee at the prospect of dismantling
our treaties and agreements forged over half a century. Of building a new world where the NHS is sold off to the lowest bidder, and domestic industries are mere inconveniences to be swept aside in pursuit of the Brexit Paradise of closed borders and a pure British nation.
Who will hold them to account when they lie, lie, and lie again? When they fill the airwaves and plaster the front pages with “reasoning” so devoid of logic, the cracks can be spotted from miles away? Who will point out there is only one version of reality, and it’s not theirs?
Why is nobody saying
“Stop. For heavens sake just stop. This is absurd. We are perpetrating a fraud on the British public, using the result of an advisory referendum as a shield. It is time to level with people. To admit what every man and woman in this place knows to be true:
a successful Brexit is impossible. It is a contradiction in terms, an unattainable notion with no basis in reality. The mechanics of our global, interconnected world, of international trade, and of our EU membership have seen to that.
As MPs, we have all sworn to uphold a Code of Conduct that requires us to act at all times in the best interests of the UK, and of our constituents, and to make all decisions on the basis of merit. Brexit fails all three of those tests, badly. It is time to stop this farce.”?
Instead, all we get is the wrong kind of outrage...
