THREAD: Why is it significant that the House Intel Committee has agreed to give Roger Stone's interview transcript to special counsel Robert Mueller?

wsj.com/articles/house… cc @ByronTau
During his testimony, Stone told investigators that when he made various claims of contact with Julian Assange in 2016, he had an intermediary.

We know from this report that he was asked specifically about comments made on InfoWars on August 12th. (democrats-intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/… …)
As a reminder, here are some of the various times Stone claimed to be in touch with Julian Assange, starting as early as August 4th:
wsj.com/video/mueller-…
After appearing before the committee, Stone sent investigators a letter and named his intermediary-- New York radio personality Randy Credico.

He said he "noticed Credico had traveled to London on at least two occasions and conducted two landmark interviews with Julian Assange"
However, Credico didn't interview Assange until August 25-- weeks after Stone began publicly claiming that he was in touch with Assange. And Credico said he didn't see Assange in London until 2017.

(Credico said he told the grand jury in Sept he was *not* Stone's backchannel.)
Additionally, Stone said Credico was *only asked* to confirm that what Assange had said publicly about Clinton releases was true.

However, as WSJ reported this spring, Stone urged Credico in Sept. 2016 to "please ask Assange" for specific Clinton emails. wsj.com/articles/roger…
The Stone/Credico relationship is complicated, but long story short: Stone maintains that Credico was his conduit, & Credico says Stone "framed him."

Also, Mueller is looking at Stone's role in planting stories about Credico after his House testimony: wsj.com/articles/muell…
Recently, we learned Stone may have had another source of information re: WikiLeaks-- Jerome Corsi.

Corsi says he "figured out" that Assange had Podesta's emails & told Stone about it. This was right before Stone started claiming contact w/Assange. wsj.com/articles/jerom…
Corsi also told us that he helped Stone write a "cover story" for Stone's August 21 tweet-- the one in which he said it was "the Podesta's time in the barrel."
wsj.com/video/jerome-c…

*Stone denies Corsi's claim. And he says his tweet was about Podesta bros & their lobbying.
Now here's where things get even more complicated. Stone recently released texts showing he & Credico discussed the timing of WikiLeaks' releases in fall '16

But Stone has denied having advanced knowledge of disclosures. And a public portion of his testimony on this is confusing
Mueller has these texts, and many others, and his team has been scrutinizing them in recent weeks. wsj.com/articles/manaf…
Given that Mueller's team has interviewed more than a dozen Stone associates and will now get Stone's House transcript, things could get interesting.

Stone's atty says his testimony was “forthcoming, truthful and wholly consistent with his many detailed public statements" (End)
