How to land freelancing clients from DMs

This is how I've done it as a copywriter, but you can take these same principles and apply them to your craft

Once you finish reading this, you'll have a $0 way to make money with Twitter

If this sounds exciting, keep reading...
1. Produce quality content every single day

This sounds obvious, but the first thing I do when someone approaches me on Twitter is check out their profile

(As every person I DM would do to me..)

Here's why...
When I look at a person's profile I'm looking at:

*Quality of content- do they know wtf they are talking about?
*Are they a cool person- would I want to work with this person?
*Are they consistent- do they have the drive to succeed?

Next...
How can you produce quality content?

Threads are huge (like this one) to give out long form thoughts and ideas

I suggest writing 1-2 per day, which are very high quality, pin the best one to your profile

The rest is tweeting 20-30+ x/day

Still with me? Good...
2. The actual DM itself

Don't pitch yourself immediately, offer them value first

For example, I pitch my services by offering copywriting tips

"Hey man- noticed a few ways you could improve your email landing page, would love to give you some ideas, no charge.. lmk"
This is so simple yet so effective, who doesn't want a free tip that could make them money?

This does something else as well...

It shows you know what you're talking about

After you've done this...
3. Follow up

It's not a big deal to send numerous follow up DMs.. You never know when they need your services

Ping them monthly to make sure they remember you

If they follow you, even better

Stay on their mind

Give them new tips and ideas if you can

Here's the trick...
With these new tips and ideas, tell them WHAT to do, but not HOW you'd actually do it

You have to intrigue them

For example, I may tell someone to add bullets to their email landing page

That's it

Not HOW to write bullets

See how that works? Great...
4. Close the deal when the time is right

Eventually, someone will bite

Patience is your best friend here

But, once you've got the ball rolling, it will be ROLLING

This is a tight community who refers a lot to one another

Look at how @joserosado blew up seemingly overnight..
Jose started contacting everyone he could help with his design skills

He makes KILLER Twitter cover photos and you can see them everywhere in our corner of Twitter

Now, he's promoting other stuff as well

This is a shining example of this DM strategy in action
Before you go.. remember, it's a numbers game

The more you pitch, the better

Set a goal of 10+ every single day and don't break the chain

You will find success, trust me.. Only the persistent survive here

One more thing...
RT the shit out of this, I'm tired of people not monetizing their skills on Twitter

Wouldn't you agree making an extra $500-$1,000 (or more) month would improve your life?

It's also a MASSIVE confidence booster...
