Protests in Sudan spread. Chants: "We either live free, or we die like men"; "Down down with military rule"; "Revolution is the people's choice, liberty dignity and justice". Sudan is rising.
Omar Al Bashir went to visit Assad to congratulate him on crushing a popular uprising. He came back to Sudan to find that his own people have launched a popular uprising. We're still alive.
For the record, the Sudanese people aren't strangers to popular uprisings. Sudan has had more popular uprisings than Libya, Syria, and Egypt combined.
Also for the record, Omar Al Bashir is currently the longest serving Arab president, at 29 years. The previous record holders were Gaddafi, Mubarak and Saleh. Yeah.

Beautiful people, this is my first truly free week in while. I'm hoping to recover and recharge. I'm going to go offline for a few days and will temporarily delete the Twitter app from my phone.
I'll try as much as possible to not know what's going on in the world. I hope nobody kills or disappears any of my friends (and nobody tries to kill me) in the meanwhile.

Wow. When @Netflix censors material on behalf of Mohammad bin Salman.
Many of us Arabs were very excited when Netflix launched its MENA division, because we thought this is a way in which we can bypass censorship. I guess there's the end of that.
Money always comes ahead of principles. Corporatism is a pillar of the structure of power that keeps us pinned down.

Over the last week, protests have erupted across #Sudan, with NISS intelligence service stations being burnt and reports of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) defending protestors in some locations. This is a developing thread for remotely monitoring the situation, h/t @trevorsnapp.
In Atbara, for example, protesters have set fire to the headquarters of ruling the National Congress Party, led by President Omar al-Bashir. There's plenty of visual evidence of the unrest, such as this video. Geolocation: 17.694190, 34.001319 (google.com/maps/place/17%…).
