“Prevention” requires UK visas from people from countries where persecution is rife. So they can’t use regular planes, trains, boats or busses.
If UK Gov wanted to minimise dangerous crossings, they’d prioritise re-uniting divided refugee families with members in UK - instead of ever more red-tape & (il)legal obstacles.
