Alfie had to play in the little park alone because too many people brought their bunny-sized dogs to the big dog park ☹️
It's probably a good thing I don't have human children, because injustices to my dog make me want to throw bricks through windows.
Guys, listen. As soon as this dumb dog that looks freakishly like a bunny showed up, I grabbed Alfie and leashed him. He was not happy, but he was behaving. And then this terrible little rabbit ran over to Alfie and BIT HIM IN THE FACE.

I really hate the expression "be your best self." It promotes an external, competitive, airbrushy selfhood that makes me feel anxious (which, I suspect, is the point) & rebellious (probably not the point). "Be your best self" says "because you sure as hell ain't her right now."
Who is this person? Your Best Self? Because she seems like your very worst friend, raising an eyebrow when you skip the gym, judging you for eating a cookie: "Is that what your best self would do?" Fuck you, I want to say, my best self loves cookies.
Why does your Best Self seem to look like everyone else, act like everyone else, & shop like everyone else? Is it possible this so-called Best Self is actually a fabrication of consumer culture, the same impulse magazines use to sell makeup & clothes & weirdly expensive candles?

Among other disasters, 2018 was the year I lost my sweet Zia. So many of my Twitter friends showed up for me through her dying process and death, and I will be eternally grateful to every single person who sent me hugs, kind notes, encouragement, support, etc.
Twitter gets a lot of shit, much of it warranted, but it can also be an amazing community full of compassionate, kind people. Losing Zia would have been harder without you all. ❤️

Even through stones, people have attained because it is not a question at all to what you #surrender.

You surrender, and that brings the whole thing, that opens the door. Surrendering, the effort to surrender brings an opening to you.
If you are open to stone, you become open to the whole existence, because it is only a question of opening. How can you be open to a stone, and not open to a tree?

2/ As many of you know, I threw my back out while hand sewing. I never said what I was making.

Background: two years ago my son drew a monster that was so cute, I paid a large sum to a brilliant woman on Etsy to turn it into a stuffy. LOOK😍
3/ More recently my son outgrew some Hannah Anderson pajamas (also there were holes, so we couldn't donate them). We got the idea to "make them into something" for Daddy's Christmas. We would remember his childhood pajamas forever!

Alright! I've finished Bryan Caplan's The Case Against Education and it's definitely very interesting, although I remain unconvinced. This is gonna be real long, really more of a blog post, but I don't have a blog, soooo strap on in.
PART 1: I'M AN EDUCATION ECONOMIST AND I REALLY LOVE SIGNALING
On a personal level I really love the signaling model. If you are not familiar, it's basically the idea that if you want to prove you have quality X, then you do wasteful and useless thing Y that someone WITHOUT X would have a harder time doing than you.
