Trump tax cut: $3,600
CA Prop 13 dividend: $17,820
Mortgage interest deduction: $7,309
Mortgage rate reduction: $13,558
Free car storage rent: $3,600
Total: $45,887 annual subsidy

I don't need $46K in government subsidies just for being an upper income, white, car-owning homeowner. So yes, this is my annual minimum for charitable contributions

Rather than subsidizing the privileged, what if we instead invested in creating opportunities for everyone? What if young people and newcomers had the same opportunities as the old and established?

Two other Privilege Subsidies I neglected:
For my work and investments, I'm taxed at around 40%. When I inherited my childhood home, however, there was zero tax, and I kept my mom's 94% Prop 13 property tax discount. Total Privilege (Dynasty?) Subsidy: >$400,000.

My tax-free inheritance allowed me to buy SF property, which appreciates at around $400,000 a year - a wage equivalent of $200 an hour. All tax free. This is a Privilege Subsidy of $160,000 a year. Privilege Subsidies significantly exceed my earned income.

I'm a market capitalist. Free markets work best when all compete on an equal footing, using our own effort, guile, and risk-taking. I should not be subsidized for my family connections, property, or other privileges. That's unfair and anti-American. It breeds resentment

I'm one of a few who went from the bottom 5% of household income to the top 10%. I did that with a lot of hard work. But also with huge support from many -- mostly women -- who are denied the privileges they fought for me to enjoy. I could not make that income leap today
