What is the best way you've come across to say "no" to something (anything ranging from getting coffee to joining a company) while still making the other person feel as OK/non-rejected as possible?
Learning:

Different situations call for different styles—in context of investors, etc, direct honesty appreciated

but it’s weird to say to someone who’s inviting you to coffee: “too early for me, come back when more traction” or a birthday "sorry, I'm prioritizing X right now"
I think the best solution for templatized work no's (e.g getting coffee) might be having clear policy & being able to point to it.

Why in some fields is plagiarism accepted (e.g Kanye sampling beats, Apple & Xerox) and in others it merits shame (e.g. Jonah Lehrer plagiarizing)?
The music example is a bad example, but the broader Q still stands - how come we accept "copying" in some industries and don't in others?

the line between "paraphrasing" and copying is fine indeed.
if we believe in the one global brain theory -- wait for more on this -- then we'd look at this Q in a new light.

1/ When I was younger I held a press conference at the dinner table and announced that I would make the NBA.

Upon hearing this news,, My parents asked “did you mean MBA”?

When I said no they calmly suggested that I evaluate a plan B. “Just incase” my dad added gently.
2/ They were worried about my future. An NBA salary should be sufficient, I assured them.

“It’s not that hard. You see, 1 hour passing, 1 hour dribbling—it’s all in this book.” I pointed to a kid’s book filled w/ pictures of Alonzo Mourning + John Stockton in short shorts.
3/ 10 yrs later, Bill Gates said it's ideal if your career picks up where your childhood left off.

I spent my childhood doing shooting drills, watching NBA games, & NBA stats.

You don't. There's a Chinese wholesale website called aliexpress.com. You find products on there, list them on your Shopify store using an app called Oberlo, and then the supplier ships products direct to your customers
"Will customers experience long wait times, high shipping costs, or foreign packaging?"

Wait times depend, ideally you want to sell products from suppliers with warehouses in the US (sort by "ships from US" on Ali)

You must sell something. Specifically, a product or a service. Something people want and are willing to buy at a price they're willing to pay. A blog, YouTube channel, etc. won't cut it. You need an offer.
You need people people to buy your offer, and a way to drive those people to your offer (i.e. a source of traffic). An organic social media following, SEO, paid traffic (FB ads, AdWords, etc.) are common examples.

I have come to realise WP often confuse the feeling evoked when racism is discussed w/ racism in this sequence/equations.

Equation 1:

Quick little write up of something I was showing someone in the local hackspace how to do basic (read, random and untargeted) glitching using an FPGA.
This is a simple demo based off code (verilog and arduino) from @tecnik that you can see on their github here: github.com/deanjerkovich/… (there was a writeup as well, but that seems to have disappeared for now) - but this is how to glitch something where removing it is less of...
a viable option. @tecnik removes the chip from the board, effectively removing it completely from the board, as it's a DIP socket IC. I wanted to show the other way - removing capacitors to get the glitch going.
